In 2018 I did the Ancestry DNA test to get an idea of what my ethnic heritage was - I wasn’t interested in the family side of it then. It pretty much started with “I wonder how much Viking DNA I have?” and I was pleasently supprised to find that there was a smattering of Sweden/Denmark, along with some other things. Travel forward a few years, and I started to wonder about the origins of my family names - Magill, Daniels, Finlay, Murphy - what did they mean? From there, it became who were these people? How does their history shape mine? And down the rabbit hole I went………
